Is a Tournament Director allowed to play in his/her own poker tournament?
There is a TD, or actually several who had to give up their first place winnings but didn't express why to anyone. I would just like to know is that legal for a TD to play in their own tournament?
This is for World Poker Tour Amateur Poker League but if someone knows what are the rules to World Tavern Poker for TDs, I would like to know

I don't know about that specific tournament buy I do know that casinos will often have house employees play in sit n go's and tournaments. They are called shills. The purpose is to get games going and to make fields larger and more enticing to the visiting gamblers. It is perfectly legal. They have to wear a name badge and identify themselves as a shill. If they win, they do not get the winnings as they are already being paid a salary by the casino. The house gets the winnings. A lot of times, these players will be poker dealers so that have experience at the table and can usually be quite good players. Hope this helps.
