Very simple spot in texas holdem??

Game type: 1/2 NL 5handed
Your image: You’ve been playing fairly aggressive poker
Opponent’s image: TAG
Your hand: Qh9h
Your stack: 400 Your opponents stack: 375
The setup: You’ve had a rush of hands lately but most of the pots you’ve played haven’t gone to showdown so your image is pretty aggro. In this hand everyone folds to the SB who completes. You decide to check. The flop brings top pair:

2TQ rainbow.

Your opponent leads out for $4 and you raise it to $16 (bad raise?????). They think for a bit and call. The turn is 6x. Now your opponent checks. How do you like to play this?

Option 1:Check behind because you are keeping the pot small and can also induce a bluff.
Option 2: If you bet (if so how much) you can find out where you're at. If you get called most likely it will be checked to you on the river and you can check behind.
Sincity, yea a raise pf is a good idea.

This hand you actually had Q4hh, but i thought q9 would be a better example.

First of all, yes, it was a bad raise. I like that you raised, but you went too high. The pot was only $4, he bet $4, and you could've gone $10-$12 and learned just as much (or won just as easily, if he would've called the smaller raise, he would call the larger.)

I like Option #2, but because you built the pot to $36, you'll need to bet something in the $16-20 range ... I'd go $20. Any less than $16 and he may stay on a draw. He shouldn't BE on a draw, after calling your raise, but you never know. The real value in this move is stifling his river bet.

I wouldn't want to induce a bluff. After all, I'm not sure I'd want to call with top pair, crappy kicker.

A stone cold bluff is also known as the pure bluff. It is used when a player’s hand has almost no chance of winning. The idea is that if a certain player can logically judge that his opponents are holding weak hands and are not willing to put their chips in danger, then a huge amount of bet will cause them to fold their hands. In general, this type of bet should be of the same value to the pot size and must only be done if a player expectation that everyone will fold is greater than fifty percent.

A semi bluff can be used by a player not when his hand has been busted but more importantly when there is still a great probability that his hand might improve on the turn or the river. The idea here is that even if a player makes a strong bet that has been called by his opponent and fails to keep them out of the pot, this player still has the chance to draw the cards he needs. According to poker pros, this bluff is best used when there are suited connectors on the board.

The most significant factor when using a bluff in any holdem card game is to make sure that you do it at the right time, timing is very crucial in holdem poker, particularly when playing poker online. You need to carry out your bluff in a very careful manner so as to prevent you from losing the game and quickly have an image of a bluffer.

Holdem bluffing techniques should be planned carefully; it should be used with care in order to protect your image and of course your poker chip stacks. Knowing a little bit of information about your opponents will also greatly help in bluffing.
