Whats a quick way to work out pot odds in a game of Texas Holdem Poker?

I have trouble calculating pot odds quickly in live play, does anyone have any tips on being able to do this quickly and easily?

Yes, simply make sure you learn the odds of hitting your hand FIRST. You should know these back to front and inside-out. Here's some help:

Once you have those memorised, you simply work out what's in the pot and compare what it costs to call versus the odds of making your hand. The thinking MUST be more automatic than manual though. Otherwise you will struggle.

Like this:

"Odds of making my flush on turn or river are 2-1. There's $50 in the pot and it costs $10 to call, so I'm getting 5-1. Easy call."

Texas Holdem Cash Games are played no differently from standard Texas holdem poker games. The only difference is, cash games typically have lower buy in values and some even do not even require a buy in. You simply need to have enough money to match the blinds at any given time. There are cash games that have buy ins of $2 and some have buy ins of $50. In those games where the buy in is $2, blinds are often valued at 5 cents and 10 cents early in the game.

One good thing about cash games is you have the option to leave the table if you are running low on funds. This means you need not lose all the money you have in your pocket in just one sitting. You just need to tell the dealer you are leaving once the round is over.

You no longer have to wait for all your funds to be depleted before you can leave the table. This gives you an opportunity to hold on to what is left of your cash once you have grown tired of playing a certain game.

Try to consider playing Texas Holdem Cash Games if you want to engage in fast paced poker action while still having control over how much money you can go home with. There are always cash games going on in casinos, home tournaments, and even online, so you practically have different options.
