Become a Poker/Black Jack dealer?
Hello,
I'm set on being a casino dealer as a small term goal. I'm already signed up for certification but I really want something to set me apart? DVD's, books. ect. I'm no novice but I really want to hit the ground running and stand out in class...any recommendations? If possible how long before I nail my first job.
What state do you live in? Each state has their own requirements.
In my instance, there was a new casino opening up, and approximately 9 months before they did, they started hiring for dealers. There were numerous interviews before the training started. Training was at least 12 weeks long, for hours everyday.
I would suggest that you contact the local casinos and ask them about their hiring/training process(es).
As a suggestion as how to prepare, purchase some cheques and practice cutting them into equal stacks. Another suggestion would be to take at least 2 decks of cards and remove all of the face cards and practice flipping and counting to 21 (sounds easier to do than it actually is). As for the poker, practice reading hands with multiple person(s) having inatimate objects as the raises (pretzels, etc) to ensure the raises, re-raises are properly bet. Basically pratice, pratice, oh yea, and more pratice
