Poker Websites

Any good websites for poker?
I want to learn poker, and maybe put some money into it.
what websites are good?
You've gotten some pointers to poker gambling sites above. My favorites are PokerStars (though the players are a shade tougher here than elsewhere), Party Poker (which is not available to U.S. players), and iPoker Network sites such as PaddyPowerPoker and Titan (may not be available in U.S. either, but super soft games, easy to beat for European players).
For learning, you'll definitely want to check out the forums at Two Plus Two: http://www.twoplustwo.com However, you'll do best to learn from some good published books, rather than picking up too much from websites (including many of the sites that Yahoo Answers regulars are always promoting).
To know what's going on in poker tournaments around the world, a site like "The Hendon Mob" is good: http://www.thehendonmob.com
If you want to track your own tournament results, or check up on some of your opponents, the "official poker rankings" (also known as "opr") site is popular for multi-table tourneys: http://www.officialpokerrankings.com
and the "Shark Scope" site is useful for single table sit'n'go tourneys: http://www.sharkscope.com

Shark scope gives a certain number of free searches and charts a day, and I've never bothered to pay anyone for this kind of info, as it's mostly a curiosity, not of real strategic value. There's also an apparently thorough site at Bluff Magazine's page http://www.bluffmagazine.com/thepokerdb/ but much of the information there is only available for paid subscription. I wouldn't bother unless you take this stuff a little too seriously, but maybe just the free search info holds some interest.
The Appeal of a Poker Website
Do you love poker and wish that you could meet with your buddies each week for a poker game? Well, playing face to face on a regular basis is not always feasible. A poker website could fill in the gaps until you can see your poker buddies again for a face to face showdown.
A poker website is also a great substitute for going to a physical casino location. Unless you are a professional gambler, chances are that you will not make it to your nearest casino to play every day. The appeal of a poker website is that you can find a game any time, day or night. Remember – half the world sleeps and the other half is awake at any given time so there are always so many people flocking to the internet for their poker website fix.
The best way to get acclimated with a poker website is to find a room that does not charge to play. By getting your feet wet with a few free games on the poker website, you will become much more adept at betting, calling and yes, even folding. Plus, you will get a feel for the poker website so that you can decide the best time to start betting real money.
Be sure with your poker website that you find one with accessible customer service. In addition, variety is important with many people, so make sure that the poker website offers a number of different poker games. On a final note, when you are definitely ready to add money to the equation, make sure that the poker website is securely encrypted so that your personal information like a credit card or bank account number is secure.
