When playing a tournament, try not to be too aggressive in the early stages and wait for an opportunity. Try to mix up your game, change your betting patterns. Try to get as much information as you can about the other players by talking to them. Don't get your emotions get caught up, ie, you had a bad beat on the previous hand, stay calm and don't try to get revenge on the player whom has won that particular hand. Don't be too passive and wait for pocket aces. Don't be too aggressive and go all in with Q,10 suited. These are some of the things I've learnt while playing this game, hope this helps.
