Why is No-one Joining My Poker Forum?

I held a $0.50+$0.50 private tournament in an attempt to get people to join my forum, but I was only able to get a group of friends to play in it. Is hosting private tournaments on full tilt a good advertising strategy? How else could i get visitors to sign up to my forum?

I don't know. What does your forum have that I can't get on some of the larger and established poker forums out there? (I'm not referring to this message board as one of them)
