How do you determine texas hold em odds in your head?

I recently bought a book on poker odds and probabilities and i found out that i need a calculator to determine the odds. how do the pros do it in their heads? is there some way to do it in your head?

The rule of Four - Two

Easy way to figure your odds if you know your outs. Not completely accurate but gives you a quick ballpark idea.

With twocards to come after the flop, multiply your number of outs by 4. nine outs times 4 equals 36%

With one card to come after the turn you multiply your outs by 2. So your nine outs at this point becomes 18%.

Just remember two cards to come multiply outs by four, with one to come multiply by two

Calculating for Texas Holdem odds can be challenging for beginners or novice players. If you have just started to play this centuries old card game, you need not worry. There are several online poker calculators that can help you determine the odds in Texas Holdem easily. Of course, you cannot bring these calculators to a real poker table but you can always learn from what they tell you.

Taking note of the odds and where they are pointing can help you a lot in defending your chip arsenal. For example, when you have hit a royal flush, the odds are most likely pointing towards you and you can readily jump on the gun and go for the pot. On the other hand, if you have high cards in your hands and there are still many players on the table with so many hands left, you might want to fold early while the stakes have not gone too high yet.

Calculating the odds also apply to the pot size, especially when you have speculative hands. For example, you have hit a speculative hand like a two-pair in the middle of the round. If the current pot is $50 and you have a two-pair in your hands, putting in $10 to see the next card means your odds at this point is 5:1.

Calculating Texas Holdem odds are also important in evaluating unseen cards and potential combinations. It is also needed when you need to compare your odds at winning and those of other players on the table.
