Help with a point system for a poker league.?

I go to a monthly poker tournament (about 50 people on average with a buy in of 40 dollars no rebuys). I thought it would be cool to track the results with a point system so we could have a player of the year kind of thing. I don't want to follow a linear pattern (50 pts for 1st, 49 for 2nd, 48 for 3rd, etc). I think the points should be more top heavy to reward the top finishers but still give lower finishes some points.

I only want to reward maybe the final table or final two tables due to the fact it would be a nitemare to track EVERYONE.

Any thoughts on a good and FAIR point distribution??

I like taking the number of total players (call it Base)

1st place = Base * 20 points
2nd place = Base * 15 points
3rd place = Base * 12 points
4th place = Base * 10 points
5th place = Base * 8 points
6th through 10th place = Base * 6
11th through 20th place = Base * 5? or 4?

I don't know how far you want to stretch it, but this is basically how NPT used to do it until recently (but for Top Ten).
