Poker Dealer Schools

I'm thinking of becoming a Casino Dealer...?
I want to become a poker and/or blackjack dealer at my local Casino, and I have a few questions.
1. Is there any way around paying to go to a training school?
2. How difficult is it to be hired, what qualities do casinos look for, and what can I do to increase my chances?
3. Which game dealer generally gets more tips, poker or blackjack? How much do they generally make in tips, assuming they don't have to share tips with other employees?
Hi my name is Michael im 27 and have worked at Caesars in Atlantic City as a dealer for 7 years now.

1. Depending on where you are from there are some state programs that offer career training to those who are unemployed or qualify under financial assistance. Some employers also offer tuition reimbursement. Dealer Schools aren't really expensive to begin with. Example; My Dealer school in Atlantic city teaches each game individually Blackjack 4 weeks $400 Craps 8 weeks $100, Poker 4 weeks $400 etc.etc.
2. Casinos will want to see 2-3 games minimum before they call you for an audition. I recommend taking Craps because when casinos see you have that game they know they cant afford to not hire you. Once they call you for the audition they are going to want to see you deal by the book. Procedure is #1 along with customer service
3. 95% of casinos pool their tips. it works out better for the casinos. however there are still some im not sure where that let the dealers keep their own tips. Working at Ceasars I average $25 an hour plus my minimum $4 which works out great because im making $29 an hour even when I havent had any customers for hours. Poker Dealers on the other hand get to keep their own tips and they usually make out ok. Give or take id say the average $200 a day depending on where they work
