advice for home poker tourney!?

ok me again...lol
having a 10 seater home tourney each player allowed 1rebuy starting stack is gonna be $500.

i have a poker set of 500 chips

150x1$
150x5$
100x25$
50x50$
50x100$

Id like to start every one with a decent size chip stack so people dont feel like they are running low before the cards are even dealt, and id like it to last around 3-4 hour mark, ive looked online at loads of stuff but cant find any structures to suit me, im at a loss whether to use the 1$ chips or not but if i dont peoples stack seem to small.....help please any suggetions? what do you thank a decent starting stack should be around?

thanx

For 10 people with rebuys you should have a second set of chips.

But with just one set I would do this:

1) Forget the $1 chips, not worth it.
2) Give everyone 5@$50, 10@$25, 15@$5 for a starting stack of $575
3) Start with blinds of $5-$10, raise every 15-20 min

If somebody rebuys then they get only $500 in chips and you use your $100 chips. Let them make change with other players at the table after they rebuy.

Also, you should put a limit on the rebuy like only during the first hour or so.

You'll dictate how long it last by how much you raise the blinds. In other words, most people double so you go from 5/10 to 10/20 to 20/40 to 40/80 to 80/160.....but that gets them a little too high too fast. Within 5 levels they are crazy high, and you'll be done in less than 2 hours, probably 90 minutes tops.

Another way is to go from 5/10 to 10/20 to 15/30 to 20/40 to 30/60 to 40/80 to 50/100, etc. You're still raising them but not doubling every time, lasts longer.

Mark’s Poker Blog is a popular blog read for Poker lovers. Here is an article about Mark and his blog.

Mark’s Poker Blog is the blog of professional poker player and author Mark Strahan, where he writes about his experiences playing Poker tournaments in and around England. While his blog may not be very informative when it comes to wanting to know how to play the game of Poker, it does present an interesting and accurate picture of the unpredictable nature of the game, and how to stay out of the red if one is playing Poker professionally.

If you are looking to learn how to play Poker, Mark’s book ‘How to Win at Texas Hold'Em - All You Need to Know' is far more informative than Mark’s Poker Blog. While his book may have sold over thirty thousand copies, and is flying of shelves, Mark’s Poker Blog is a far more entertaining read.

Mark has been playing Poker for several years now, and has been writing about his experiences over the last 5 years on his blog. Reading his blog over the past few years is an indication of Poker being a game requiring equal amounts of skill, and a helping hand from lady luck. From being in a position to win several thousand pounds to losing everything with the turn of the last card is not an uncommon occurrence. Neither is the opposite where Mark has gone from the verge of losing it all to winning a large pot with a favorable last card.

Mark’s Poker Blog proves that the popularity of no limit Texas Hold’Em Poker is definitely on the rise, with a vast increase in the number of both players, and card rooms or casinos where Poker tables for the Beginner as well as the High Rollers are plenty. Another point to remember is that while the occasional reader of Mark’s Poker Blog might get the impression that it is easy to make thousands of pounds easily playing poker, someone who follows it more regularly will know that you’re lucky just to break even playing Poker over a sustained period of time. Every big win Mark experienced has been matched by an equally big loss, and keeping out of the red is always a challenge. Quitting when you’re ahead seems to be the key.

Mark has not only played in professional Poker tournaments all around the UK, but he’s also made a few forays into the American circuit, playing several tournaments in America. In 2007, Mark also participated in the PokerStars World Blogger Championship of Online Poker.

Mark’s latest trip to America came in December 2007, when he played several tournaments in and around Orlando, Florida. It seemed to be a successful trip, and after a disappointing 2007, the year ended well as per Mark’s Poker Blog. Nonetheless, with the coming of 2008, Mark decided to discontinue writing on Mark’s Poker Blog, much to the disappointment of the Blog’s many followers. Still, his readers wait eagerly to see if Mark Straham will make a comeback, either to cyberspace, or to the world of professional Poker, by winning the World Series of Poker and realizing a long cherished dream.
