How to improve my poker game?

I've been playing consistantly for about a year now. I was wondering what the best way to take the game to the next level is? Its hard for me to grasp studying poker, i was a very advanced chess player for a time and that was mostly book study, but poker seems different. Is it constantly analyzing your game and improving leaks? Or is is reading books and finding out as much information as you can?

I suggest playing against your cat. Cats have the best poker faces! You can never tell if they are holding A♥, A♠ or 2♦, 7♣. It's very difficult to bluff a cat. I told the cat that we sold her to gypsies and her expression still didn't change!

I don't suggest purchasing a poker book. If you are like me, you can't afford a poker book thanks to all the gambling debt that you owe Fluffy.

The difficulty with internet poker is that there is a total lack of body language tells online.This means that in internet poker players will have to get information about the opponent hands by how players bet and based on their response time while in real time casinos players will be able to get the same information from body language clues. Due to the lack of body language tells in internet poker, the players make a lot of identifier bets that are purely beyond dependence on their poker hand strength.
